Roof Gaps & Fascia Boards

Filling the gaps between trusses and adding fascia boards are often handled by the local volunteers after we've completed the bulk of the project.  The first picture was sent to us a few days after we returned home, and it was great to see they kept right on going.  The yellow circles indicate where they had filled in all the gaps with leftover scrap wood, and then started nailing on fascia boards.

The bottom picture shows a project that we did have time to get the fascia boards up as part of the build.  A benefit of that practice is a little extra support to the overall structure prior to sheeting.

One of the lasting benefits of these projects is teaching the volunteers some of these construction basics. Unfortunately, we can only get down about once a year, but with these skills under their belts, they can apply their 'pay it forward' enthusiasm toward other church and community projects, and even their own neighborhood homes and business buildings.

It's incredibly inspiring to return year after year and see many of the same faces, as well as improvements on buildings we've worked on before. These folks LOVE to show us the progress of their handywork, and we couldn't be more proud to see them spread it around!
