Atalaya 2019 - Project Complete!

Here are some pictures of the completed project.  One important thing to note here is that [we] did not 100% complete this project.  That's especially important because it illustrates some very real challenges and successes that can happen on these trips.  First - it clearly conveys that neither this organization, nor the volunteer workforce are anything less than 50-50 partners...neither could do it on their own.  Second - it shows the absolutely invaluable facet of passing on some basic skills to the local people, who are thrilled to pay it forward in their own community.  The last picture is missing many of the brothers and sisters that participated.   Many of these folks took days or partial days off work, but by our last day, some of them needed to get back.  That's dedication!

We got the sheeting started, and they picked up the process and ran with it. We laid down the first few layers of shingles (on one side of the roof), and again, they picked up on the process and ran with it.  Finally, they heard and read some verbal and written instructions, and finished off what we didn't have time to complete.  THAT'S TEAMWORK, and I can't wait to go back as soon as possible and see what else they've done.
